Continuing Education (CE) for Licensed Professional Counselors in Virginia

Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC)

Virginia LPCs must take:

  • Twenty (20) hours of continuing education (CE) each year
  • Including two (2) hours of ethics
  • Renewal date: June 30 each year
  • Virginia Board of Counseling accepts online learning and home study
  • Board accepts courses from providers approved by NBCC, APA, NAADAC

Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioners (LSATP)

Virginia LSATPs are required to take:

  • Twenty (20) hours of continuing education (CE) each year
  • Including two (2) hours of ethics
  • Board accepts online courses from providers approved by NBCC, APA, NAADAC
