Continuing Education (CE) for Pennsylvania Social Workers

Pennsylvania social workers (LSW, LCSW) are required to earn:

  • 30 hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 years, including 3 hours in ethics
  • 20 of the required CE hours can be in home study
  • Courses must be at least 2 hours in length
  • Renewal date: February 28, odd-numbered years
  • PA Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors accepts courses from ASWB, NBCC, APA

CE Approvals:  Athealth.com is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Athealth.com is approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6719.  Athealth.com courses are co-sponsored by Amedco, LLC. Amedco is approved as a provider (Provider # 1346) for continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB)

Act 31: After January 1, 2015, all health-related licensees applying for the renewal of a license issued by the Board shall be required to complete at least 2 hours of Board approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting requirements. The reporting for this mandatory training program differs from the reporting for ordinary continuing education. Currently, athealth.com does not have a course that meets this 2-credit requirement.
