Continuing Education for Connecticut Social Workers

CE requirements for CT social workers (LMSW, LCSW):

  • 15 CE hours, including a minimum of 1 hour of cultural competency, every year
  • For renewal periods after January 1, 2016, licensees must complete at least two hours of training during the first renewal period in which continuing education is required and not less than once every six years thereafter on the topic of mental health conditions common to veterans and family members of veterans, including (1) determining whether a patient is a veteran or family member of a veteran, (2) screening for conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide, depression and grief, and (3) suicide prevention training.
  • CT social workers can take 6 CE credits online

CE Approvals: The CT Department of Health does not approve courses, but will accept relevant courses from ASWB approved providers. Programs for social workers are available for continuing education credit through the co-sponsorship of At Health, Inc., and Amedco, LLC. Amedco, #1346, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Amedco maintains responsibility for the program.
