Continuing Education for Psychologists in Maine

CE requirements for Maine psychologists:

• 40 hours of continuing professional education every 2 years, including 3 hours of ethics and 3 hours in supervision for supervisors
• Board accepts online learning

Beginning January 1, 2020 - all applicants for initial licensure or license renewal in Maine shall demonstrate a one-time successful completion of a minimum of 3 hours of coursework in family or intimate partner violence. The coursework may be fulfilled through course work provided through contact hours, internet hours (such as through AtHealth.com) or distance learning programs as evidenced by certification from an accredited educational institution or equivalent teaching or practice experience.

CE Approvals

The Maine Board of Examiners of Psychologists accepts programs from APA approved sponsors. At Health, LLC is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. At Health, LLC maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

The following courses apply to the Intimate Partner Violence requirement:

• Domestic Violence: Intimate Partner Abuse (7 hours)
• Domestic Violence: Counseling Clients Involved with Violent Intimate Partners (2 hours)
• Criminal Justice Assessments: Sex Offenders & Intimate Partner Violence (2 hours)

ME psychologists can earn all 40 of their CE credits online through athealth.com.
