CE requirements for SC counselors (LPC, LMFT, LPES):
LPCs and LMFTs
- 40 clock hours of CE related to their respective professional license every 2 years
- 15 credits can be taken online
- Persons licensed both as LPC and LMFT must complete 50 hours of formal continuing education during every two-years. Of 50 hours, at least 25 hours must be related to each discipline.
- Renewal Date: 8/31 Biennial year
Licensed PsychoEducational Specialists (LPES)
- 40 clock hours of CE related to their respective professional license every 2 years
- 15 credits can be taken online
CE Approvals
The SC Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists accepts courses from providers approved by NBCC, NADAAC, or other professional counselor certifying bodies as long as the program is relevant to the licensee’s area of practice and offers professional development in the licensee’s profession. At Health, LLC is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. At Health, LLC maintains responsibility for this program and its content. At Health, LLC is approved as a continuing education provider by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) Provider #148460.At Health, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6949. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. At Health, LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
South Carolina LPCs, LMFTs, and LPESs can earn 15 of their CE credits online through athealth.com.
