Continuing Education for Professional Counselors in Alaska

To be accepted by the board, continuing education must contribute directly to the professional competency of a professional counselor and must be directly related to the skills and knowledge required to implement professional counseling principles and methods.

CE requirements for Alaska professional counselors:

  • Must complete 40 hours of continuing education every 2 years, including at least three contact hours must be in professional ethics, at least three contact hours must be in suicidality, and at least three contact hours must be in cultural competency.
  • No more than one-half of the total number of CE hours may be earned from individual study

CE Approvals

The Alaska Board of Professional Counselors accepts programs from NBCC and NAADAC approved sponsors.
