This 20-hour asynchronous online course is designed to facilitate your development of foundational skills in the area of Behavioral and Technology Addictions. It includes an introduction to conceptual, empirical, and clinical developments within this rapidly evolving area of clinical practice. The course places an emphasis on clinical utility, discussing and illustrating the translation of scholarly developments into actual practice.
Video presentations highlight conceptual and scholarly advances in the field, while actual clinical interviews illustrate the wide range of behavioral addictions in relation to diverse and often challenging, clinical contexts. The course includes a variety of interactive learning activities designed to enhance your engagement and interaction with the material, and its translation into your practice. Instructors
Gregory Neimeyer PhD
As a lifetime inductee into the Academy of Distinguished Teaching Scholars, much of Dr. Neimeyer’s career has been dedicated to teaching and training in the areas of psychodiagnostics and psychopathology. His professional development training on eating disorders has been presented nationally and internationally in a wide variety of academic, community, and hospital contexts, as well as to mental health associations, agencies, and organizations.
A Fellow of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Neimeyer is the recipient of its Award for Outstanding Achievement in Career and Personality Research. His trainings draw from his extensive clinical experience in medical residency training programs, VAMCs, university counseling centers, and other forensic and community settings.
Dr. Neimeyer is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychology at the University of Florida, where he has served as its Director of Training and Graduate Coordinator. He has also served as the Chair of the Executive Board of the Council of Counseling Psychology Training Programs in the United States, and as the Director of the Office of Continuing Education in Psychology at the American Psychological Association in Washington, D.C.
