Author Bio

Subject Matter Experts:

Kathleen Murphy, PhD, has served on the NASW Committee on Inquiry in Illinois since 1985 and is a recent Past Chair. She received her PhD in Social Work from the University of Illinois, Jane Addams School of Social Work, in 1988 and is on the faculty of the Institute for Clinical Social Work, as well as being a visiting lecturer for Loyola University School of Social Work. In addition to her private practice and her workshops on ethical issues, she has published on the topics of homecare with families and addictions.

Robert Galatzer-Levy, MD, is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst of children, adolescents, and adults. His practice includes extensive work in custody evaluations and in the treatment of children of divorce. He is co-author of The Essential Other: A Developmental Psychology of the Self; Problems, Findings and Methods; and The Scientific Basis of Child Custody Decisions.

Interviewer:

Barbara Alexander, LCSW, BCD, is a graduate of the Smith College School for Social Work and the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Program of the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. After working for 13 years in child psychiatric settings and 30 years in private practice, she is now founder and president of On Good Authority, and an expert interviewer.
