Description

In this presentation, Dr. Ashley Nguyen-Martinez provides exposure to the current topics in study of the brain and bilingualism.
The course will introduce attendees to the rapidly growing field of
neurolinguistics, with a special focus on bilingualism. Although the study of language deficits in
people with brain damage or degenerative neural diseases has been around for a long time,
neuroimaging methods, such as magnetic resonance imaging and electrophysiology, have been
applied more recently to questions about the way that language is processed in the brain.
Bilingualism provides a unique lens for understanding fundamental concepts about language
processing, such as the interactions between different levels of language representation, what
drives language change, and individual differences in language processing.
