CE Requirements for Psychologists in Iowa (IA)

Iowa psychologists (PhD, PsyD) are required to take 40 hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 years. This CE must include 6 hours on ethical issues, federal mental health laws and regulations, Iowa mental health laws and regulations, or risk management. The renewal date for Iowa psychologists is June 30 of even-numbered years.

CE Approval for Iowa Psychologists

The Iowa Board of Psychology accepts continuing education activities if the activity:

  • Constitutes an organized program of learning which contributes directly to the professional
    competency of the licensee;
  • Pertains to subject matters which integrally relate to the practice of the profession;
  • Is conducted by individuals who have specialized education, training and experience by reason
    of which said individuals should be considered qualified concerning the subject matter of the program.
    At the time of audit, the board may request the qualifications of presenters;
  • Fulfills stated program goals, objectives, or both; and
  • Provides proof of attendance to licensees in attendance

At Health, LLC is approved as a continuing education provider by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) Provider #148460.

At Health, LLC, Provider #1707, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. At Health, LLC, maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 5/3/2023-5/3/2026.
