Description

Back in the fall, Dr. Sharp of The Testing Psychologist podcast had the privilege of taking a 6-week continuing education class on assessment and treatment of intellectual disability and associated comorbidities. In that class, Dr. Jessica Robb-Mazzant presented on the intersection of Intellectual Disability and ADHD. Upon completion of the class, Dr. Sharp knew that this topic would be perfect for the podcast and that Dr. Robb-Mazzant would be a fantastic guest!

So, this course is Dr. Sharp's conversation with Dr. Robb-Mazzant. They cover the overlap of ADHD and Intellectual Disability, as well as recommended assessment methods. Here are a few other highlights from the interview:

  • Prevalence of ID and ADHD
  • Diagnostic overshadowing and misattribution of symptoms
  • Medication response when ADHD is present along with ID
  • Variations in assessment when ADHD is a consideration, along with Dr. Robb-Mazzant's preferred batteries

Interview conducted February 2023.
