Description

As a field, we know very little about how to measure and mitigate child suicide risk given the limited amount of research that is focused on this topic to date. In May 2019, NIMH, along with co-sponsorship from NIH Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences, convened the first NIMH workshop focused on child suicide risk.

The workshop resulted in a call-to-action paper and laid the foundation for this current preteen roundtable series.

This video course is from the NIMH Synthesis Workshop on Risk, Resilience, and Trajectories in Preteen Suicide. The opening session will include brief, high-level summaries of the NIMH roundtable workshops that preceded the recording for this course. These summaries will be presented by the NIMH staff who planned and led the roundtable series. Following the summary presentations, NIMH Director Joshua Gordon and Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine talk about how this research can inform efforts to improve preteen and youth suicide prevention.

Their conversation will be followed by a recorded, information-packed, 20-minute Q&A session.
