Continuing Education (CE) for Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) in PA

Pennsylvania licensed professional counselors (LPC) are required to earn:

  • 30 hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 years, including 3 hours in ethics
  • 20 of the required CE hours can be in home study
  • Courses must be at least 2 hours in length
  • Renewal date: February 28, odd-numbered years
  • PA Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors accepts courses from NBCC, APA

CE Approvals: is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. is approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6719.

Act 31: After January 1, 2015, all health-related licensees applying for the renewal of a license issued by the Board shall be required to complete at least 2 hours of Board approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting requirements.
