Trauma Informed Assessment

Time after time, the question of trauma pops up in the Testing Psychologist Community on Facebook. How do I appropriately assess it? How do I separate it from other diagnoses? What does it really look like? If you’ve ever asked these questions, this course is for you.

In this two part course, The Testing Psychologist, Dr. Jeremy Sharp, sits down with Dr. Julia Strait to talk about all things trauma. Including:

  • Acute trauma vs. developmental/complex trauma
  • “Concept creep” (i.e., can anything count as trauma?)
  • The pros and cons of the DSM-5 trauma conceptualization and diagnostic options
  • Interviewing for traumatic experiences
  • Measures to assess trauma
  • Differential diagnosis of trauma and other concerns like ADHD, ASD, and others
  • Feedback and report-writing with a trauma-informed lens
