The Florida Certification Board oversees certification programs in addictions, mental health, behavioral health, child welfare, and prevention.
Florida addiction counselors and specialists are required to earn continuing education (CE) credits to renew their certifications as follows:
Addiction Counselors in Florida
Certified Addiction Professional (CAP)
- Must earn 20 CE hours per year. Renewal date: June 30
- Training content must be related to at least one of the CAP performance domains.

Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC)
- Must earn 20 CE hours per year.
- Training content must be related to at least one of the CAC performance domains.

- Renewal date: 6/30 Annually
Certified E-therapist (CET)
- Must earn 5 CE hours annually Note: If you hold an FCB credential, 5 of your 20 annual CEUs must be specific to E-Therapy

Certified Gambling Addiction Counselor (CGAC)
- Must earn 10 CE hours each year. Note: If you hold a CAP credential, 10 of your 20 annual CE credits must be specific to gambling.
- Renewal date: June 30

Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist (CTTS)
- Must earn 10 CE hours of continuing education each year.
- Training must be related to the CTTS Performance Domains.

CE Approvals
The Florida Certification Board accepts continuing education (CE) courses offered by NAADAC approved continuing education providers. At Health, LLC is approved as a continuing education provider by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) Provider #148460.ÂFlorida certified professionals can earn all of their CE credits online through athealth.com.
