CE requirements for licensed mental health counselors (LMHC) in Florida:
- 30 hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 years as follows:
- General Hours – 25 hours
- Ethics and Boundaries – 3 hours Click here to see our ethics courses
- Medical Errors – 2 hours (All medical errors courses must be approved by the Florida Board. Athealth.com does not currently offer a medical errors course.)
- In addition, Florida mental health counselors are required to take 3 hours on Florida Laws and Rules every third renewal. These hours are included in the 25 general hours. (Athealth.com has numerous courses that meet the requirement for Ethics and Boundaries referenced above. However, athealth.com does not currently offer a Laws and Rules course.)
- Qualified Supervisor Training – 4 hours These hours are required every third biennium for Qualified Supervisors only and are included in the 25 general hours.
- 2 hours on Domestic Violence – (Due every 6 years. These hours are included in the 25 required general hours) The following athealth.com course meets this requirement: Domestic Violence: Counseling Clients Involved with Violent Intimate Partners
- Renewal Date: 3/31 every 2 years
CE Approvals
At Health, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6949. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. At Health, LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
The Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy & Mental Health Counseling accepts courses from ASWB approved sponsors.
At Health, LLC, Provider #1707, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 5/3/2023-5/3/2026.
<There is no limit on the number of hours that can be earned through online or home study courses.
Licenses expire March 31, odd-numbered years.
