Continuing Education for LPC and LPES in South Carolina

CE requirements for SC counselors (LPC, LMFT, LPES):

LPCs and LMFTs

  • 40 clock hours of CE related to their respective professional license every 2 years
  • 15 credits can be taken online
  • Persons licensed both as LPC and LMFT must complete 50 hours of formal continuing education during every two-years. Of 50 hours, at least 25 hours must be related to each discipline.

Licensed PsychoEducational Specialists (LPES)

  • 40 clock hours of CE related to their respective professional license every 2 years
  • 15 credits can be taken online

CE Approvals

The SC Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists accepts courses from providers approved by NBCC, NADAAC, or other professional counselor certifying bodies as long as the program is relevant to the licensee’s area of practice and offers professional development in the licensee’s profession.
