Continuing Education for Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) in Virginia

Attention: Several states and disciplines have relaxed requirements regarding live / in person Continuing Education due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please check with your board to see the most current requirements.

Marriage and family therapists (MFT) in Virginia must take

  • Twenty (20) hours of continuing education each year, including two (2) hours of ethics
  • Renewal date: June 30 each year
  • The Virginia Board of Counseling accepts online learning and home study
  • Board accepts courses from providers approved by NBCC, APA, or NAADAC

CE approvals

The Virginia Board of Counseling accepts courses from providers approved by the APA. At Health, LLC is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. At Health, LLC maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
