Continuing Education for Social Workers in Massachusetts

Massachusetts social workers are required to take continuing education (CE) as follows:

  • LICSW – 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years
  • LCSW - 20 hours of continuing education every 2 years
  • LSW – 15 hours of continuing education every 2 years
  • LSWA – 10 hours of continuing education every 2 years

The Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Workers accepts distance learning and home study.

CE Approvals:

Licensees can take up to 25% of their credits from APA approved providers if the content is relevant to social work. At Health is an APA approved provider. At Health is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. At Health maintains responsibility for the program and its content.

The Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Workers accepts programs offered by ASWB approved sponsors. Programs are available for continuing education credit through the co-sponsorship of At Health, LLC, and Amedco, LLC.  Amedco, #1346, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Amedco maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval Period: 6/24/2016 to 6/24/2019.

Renewal date: Sept 30 even-numbered years
