Continuing Education Requirements for Iowa Addiction Counselors include:

  • 40 credits every 2 years
  • Must include 3 credits of ethics
  • The remaining 37 hours must be in relevant topics (i.e. alcohol & drug specific, special
    populations, counseling, mental health, social work, etc.)
  • Maximum of 20 credits of distance learning for each 2-year certification period
  • Board accepts NAADAC
