Athealth.com is a family business that we've owned and operated for over 20 years. It's now time to transition the company to new ownership.
This business is professionally rewarding, and the company is poised for growth. Athealth.com was founded in 1996, while I was in private practice near the Microsoft campus and when the internet was in its infancy. Through the years, we have been fortunate to provide quality continuing education (CE) to a very loyal following of thousands of mental health professionals (MHPs), including clinicians, academicians, and some students. Athealth has an excellent reputation among our users, who give our CE content and technologies outstanding ratings. We also have great relationships, most very long term, with our business partners.
The company's primary focus is on continuing education. Our CE Catalog currently has about 140 courses, including titles from all the major mental health topics. New courses are added on a regular basis. Courses are in a text-based and/or audio format. Athealth is an approved CE provider for a number of professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association (APA). See CE Approvals. The American Professional Agency approves many of our ethics and risk management courses for their discounted insurance rates.
Athealth has served more than 60,000 online CE courses to MHPs, including psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, counselors, and addiction specialists. In 2016 professionals completed more than 3,700 courses. Our automated online platform is very user-friendly, and most users purchase and then complete their courses without requiring any customer support.
In 2014 athealth.com launched a brand new website with state-of-the-art technologies. Amazon Web Services hosts the website. The site is created with WordPress (WP), joining 25% of all websites, globally. We integrated LearnDash into the WP site for our Learning Management System (LMS), and we rely on Infusionsoft to provide high quality customer relations and communication with our users.
We routinely communicate with about 11,000 professionals via email. Friday's Progress Notes (FPN), the company's core e-newsletter has been regularly published since 1996. FPN distributes relevant mental health information to opt-in subscribers.
We operate the company with four part time positions: customer support, IT developer, CE manager, and business manager/development. The company contracts with two individuals to provide web server support and routine bookkeeping services. The site's Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) lists some of the common user inquiries.
