Iowa social workers are required to take:
- 27 hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 years, including at least 3 hours of social work ethics.
- For licensure at the independent level, persons serving in a supervisory role must complete 3 hours of continuing education in supervision.
- Social workers can earn up to twelve (12) credits from independent study.
- Renewal Date: 12/31 even-numbered year
CE Approvals
At Health programs meet the continuing education criteria of chapter 645.281 for social workers in Iowa.At Health, LLC, Provider #1707, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. At Health, LLC, maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 5/3/2023-5/3/2026.
