CE requirements licensed professional counselors (LPC) in TN:
- Twenty (20) clock hours of continuing education every two (2) years
- Three (3) hours must pertain to professional ethics
- A maximum of ten (10) hours can be earned online
- Renewal Date: Biennial-birth month
Requirements for professionals who hold two (2) certificates and/or licenses regulated by the Tennessee Board for Professional Counselors, Marital and Family Therapists and Clinical Pastoral Therapists:
- Must complete thirty (30) clock hours of CE every two (2) years.
- Three (3) hours must pertain to professional ethics
- Fifteen (15) of the thirty hours can be earned online.
Requirements for professionals who hold three (3) certificates and/or licenses:
- Must complete forty (40) clock hours of continuing education every two (2) years.
- Three (3) hours must pertain to professional ethics
- Twenty (20) of the forty hours can be earned online.
In each case, at least ten (10) clock hours must be directly related to the practice of each profession for which the person is licensed or certified.
Persons supervising applicants for licensure under the provisions of 0450-01-.10 shall have three (3) clock hours of the twenty (20) clock hour biennial requirement pertain to counseling supervision or related supervision topics.
CE Approvals:
The Board accepts courses offered by providers approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). At Health, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6949. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. At Health, LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. The Board accepts courses offered by providers approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) or the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). At Health, LLC is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. At Health, LLC maintains responsibility for this program and its content.Licensed professional counselors in TN can take one-half (1/2) of their credits online through athealth.com.
