Continuing Education (CE) for LPCs in North Carolina

Attention: Several states and disciplines have relaxed requirements regarding live / in person Continuing Education due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please check with your board to see the most current requirements.

Continuing education (CE) requirements for licensed professional counselors (LPC, LPCA, and LPC Supervisors) in North Carolina:

  • Forty (40) continuing education (CE) hours every 2 years, including a minimum of 3 hours of ethics. The required Jurisprudence Exam (which is not offered by counts for 5 contact hours in ethics.
  • Renewal date: June 30th of the renewal year
  • LPC Supervisors must take a minimum of 10 hours in clinical supervision. This is in addition to the 40 hours for a total of 50 CE hours.

The North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors accepts courses offered by NBCC approved providers, so counselors licensed in North Carolina can earn their 40 CE credits through At Health.
