Attention: Several states and disciplines have relaxed requirements regarding live / in person Continuing Education due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please check with your board to see the most current requirements.
Continuing education (CE) requirements clinical pastoral therapists (CPT) in TN:
- Ten (10) clock hours of continuing education each year
- Three (3) hours must pertain to professional ethics
- A maximum of five (5) hours can be earned online
- Professionals who hold two (2) certificates and/or licenses regulated by the Tennessee Board for Professional Counselors, Marital and Family Therapists and Clinical Pastoral Therapists must complete fifteen (15) clock hours of CE every year.
- Three (3) hours must pertain to professional ethics
- A maximum of seven and one-half (7 ½) hours can be earned online.
- Professionals who hold three (3) certificates and/or licenses must complete twenty (20) clock hours of continuing education every year.
- Three (3) hours must pertain to professional ethics
- A maximum of ten (10) hours can be earned online.
In each case, at least five (5) clock hours must be directly related to the practice of each profession for which the person is licensed or certified.
CE Approvals
The Board accepts courses offered by providers approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). At Health, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6949. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. At Health, LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. The Board accepts courses offered by providers approved by the American Psychological Association (APA). At Health, LLC is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. At Health, LLC maintains responsibility for this program and its content.Clinical pastoral therapists in TN can take one-half (1/2) of their credits online through athealth.com.
