CE for California LPCC and LEP

California LPCCs and LEPs:

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs) and Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEPs) must take 36 hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 years, including 6 hours of law and ethics every renewal period.

In addition, LPCCs must complete a 7-hour continuing education course which covers the characteristics and method of assessment and treatment of people who live with HIV-AIDS. This is a one-time only CE requirement.

In addition, LEPs must complete

  • at least seven (7) classroom hours of coursework or training in child abuse assessment. This is a one-time only requirement.
  • at least fifteen (15) hours of instruction and training in alcoholism and other chemical substance dependency. This is a one-time only requirement.

If practitioners have a LMFT or LCSW license in addition to the LEP or LPCC license, they may apply CE hours to both if the course meets the CE guidelines and the subject matter relates to both scopes of practice.

CE Approval:

At Health is an approved provider of the California Board of Behavior Sciences (PCE 3319). Our courses meet the qualifications for continuing education credit for LPCCs and LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. (CA BBS continuing education regulations are changing. The athealth.com CE provider status with CA BBS is valid through October 31, 2016. After that date, our CE provider approvals through the American Psychological Association and National Board for Certified Counselors (ACEP #6719) will take over to cover these courses for continuing education.)
