Illinois social workers (LSW, LCSW) are required to take:
- Thirty (30) hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 years, including 3 hours of social work ethics and 3 hours in cultural competence related to social work practice
- Fifteen (15) hours can be earned online
- Renewal date for Illinois social workers is November 30 of odd-numbered years.
CE Approvals: The Illinois Board accepts courses from APA, NBCC, NASW, and ASWB providers. At Health (athealth.com) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. At Health is approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP #6719.
