CE Requirements for Social Workers in Illinois

Illinois social workers (LSW, LCSW) are required to take thirty (30) hours of continuing education every 2 years. The 30 hours must include 3 hours of social work ethics and 3 hours in cultural competence related to social work practice.

Illinois social workers can earn 15 of the 30 CE credits online through athealth.com. Click here to view the course catalog

The remaining 15 CE credits must be earned in face-to-face instruction.

Renewal date for Illinois social workers is November 30 of odd-numbered years.

The Illinois Board accepts courses from ASWB providers.
