Iowa social workers are required to take:
- 27 hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 years, including at least 3 hours of social work ethics.
- For licensure at the independent level, persons serving in a supervisory role must complete 3 hours of continuing education in supervision.
- The board shall not limit the number of continuing education credits that may be obtained online in satisfying continuing education requirements, provided that any program providing continuing education credits online shall comply with standards set by the board
- Renewal Date: 12/31 even-numbered year
CE Approvals

At Health, LLC, Provider #1707, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. At Health, LLC, maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 5/3/2023-5/3/2026.
