Attention: Several states and disciplines have relaxed requirements regarding live / in person Continuing Education due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please check with your board to see the most current requirements.
Alabama marriage and family therapists (LMFT) are required to take forty (40) hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 years.
- LMFTs must complete at least 10 hours in clinical MFT workshops, which include a minimum of 6 hours in the area of diagnosis and treatment. Alabama LMFTs must also take a minimum of 6 hours in professional issues and ethics.
- LMFT supervisors must complete at least 5 hours of CE in the area of supervision.
Alabama LMFTs can take up to twenty (20) credits of CE via distance learning.
CE Approvals
The Alabama Board of Examiners in Marriage and Family Therapy accepts courses from NBCC approved providers. At Health, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6949. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. At Health, LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
