Attention: Several states and disciplines have relaxed requirements regarding live / in person Continuing Education due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please check with your board to see the most current requirements.
CE requirements for marriage and family therapists (MFTs) in DC:
- MFTs must complete 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years, including 6 hours of ethics
- DC marriage and family therapists can earn 15 CE hours online
- Ten percent (10%) of the total required continuing education shall be in the subjects determined by the Director as public health priorities of the District, which shall be duly published every five (5) years or as deemed
appropriate - Continuing education may be in current and emerging issues in marriage
and family therapy such as the study of:
(1) Non-traditional families;
(2) Domestic violence;
(3) HIV;
(4) Aging;
(5) End-of-life issues;
(6) Addiction and psychopharmacology; or Trauma - After December 31, 2018, the 30 hours must include 2 hours of LGBTQ continuing education
- Renewal: December 31, even-numbered years
